A Note from a Donor…

Ginger cropped Candler Library 1The idea of the Circle of Sisterhood Foundation appealed to me the very first time I encountered it. My experiences with my own sorority, Delta Delta Delta, have enhanced my life in so many ways. I have served as an officer in both collegiate and alumnae chapters, been an advisor to collegiate chapters, worked with collegiate leadership programs, served as a Fraternity officer and now am honored to lead our Foundation Board of Trustees. In each of these roles, I have learned specifics such as finances, investment, policies, and procedures. I have developed skills ranging from public speaking to fundraising. I have had the opportunity to focus on values such as generosity and unselfish leadership and to discipline myself to include those in every aspect of my life.

The core idea of the Circle of Sisterhood, which emphasizes removing educational barriers to uplift girls and women, spoke directly to me as I considered the privilege I had had to attend a university and to benefit from my lifetime membership in an organization that begins as a collegiate experience. Having experienced both individual growth and group accomplishments through Tri Delta, I loved the idea of taking that one step further and harnessing the collective power and energy of women across all sororities in a common campaign. I imagine that every one of our sororities emphasizes learning and that each of our groups uses the image of a circle somewhere in its rituals or programming. We have more in common than we realize, and focusing together on a common goal made it all fit together for me.

I will always include Delta Delta Delta among my giving priorities. Tri Delta’s influence on me and its commitment to developing excellence in women make the Circle of Sisterhood a natural addition to my giving. It is not a case of giving to either Tri Delta or the Circle of Sisterhood. For me it is giving to both Tri Delta and the Circle of Sisterhood. It is my hope that many sorority women will want to multiply their personal positive experiences with their own groups by giving to the Circle of Sisterhood. Our gifts will ensure that new positive experiences can be extended to girls and women around the world who will have their own personal growth opportunities through education.
